MONUMENT
Oklahoma City's Monument was formed
in 1993 by current members Chad
Callaway/bass,
Sean Kelly/guitar and Kevin Courtney/drums. In March 1995,
the band entered Nub Studios in Norman, OK to record their first demo
entitled "Dust" with vocalist
Jim Davis and guitarist Parker Brown. Having a
progressive feel the
album contains 6 songs and continues to receive very
good responses.
In late 1995, Parker Brown left the band and a decision was
made not to seek a replacement.
In 1996 Jim Davis moved away from
Oklahoma City and was replaced(after many auditions) by Hal Willingham.
The band
continued to hone their skills as musicians and performing artists
during the various line-up changes. In mid 1997 Hal left the band and was
replaced by Chad's brother Kirk Callaway. With obvious style differences,
Kirk's vocals are much more aggressive and "in your face" than any vocalist
Monument had up to that point and
a heavier direction was pursued. The
current line-up has proved to be the most stable and co-hesive. Opening
for
major touring artists and developing a small following, Monument is starting
to gain interest across the country and around the world.
